Who is Qualified for the OSSD Diploma?
The OSSD Diploma is accessible to any student who has completed grade 8 or is currently in grades 9-12. Additionally, adult students have the opportunity to enroll in the OSSD program for career advancement or other purposes.
Students eligible for the OSSD Diploma include:
- Middle school graduates
- Recent high school graduates
- Current students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB), O Level,
A Level, or AP programs - Current high school students in Grade 9, 10, 11, or 12
- Adult students seeking to upgrade or change their careers
Transfer Credits GRADES 9-12
Students have the opportunity to transfer credits from other accredited schools by providing transcripts for assessment by Academy personnel. The Academy administration will evaluate whether the credits fulfill the transfer requirements.
What do you need to graduate from high school?
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Requirements:
18 Compulsory courses: students must earn 30 credits to meet the OSSD graduation requirements of which they must complete 18 compulsory credits.
12 Elective courses: within the 30 credits courses required for graduation, students also must complete 12 elective credit courses.
OSSLT: Students who intend to earn Secondary School Diploma OSSD must writ the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). This provincially mandate test is typically completed in Grade 10 but can be completed if entry is afterwards. Those who are unsuccessful can completed the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Courses (OSSLC).
Complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities: before graduating from high school, students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities, a community involvement package will be provided to students upon enrollment grade 12 courses.
Earn at least two online learning credits: students must earn at least 2 online credit courses.
